Mobile search engine marketing
Internet based marketing was a big hit when businesses first resorted to it. Nowadays, mobile search engine marketing seems to be the next Holy Grail for companies and marketing specialists. The first advertising program aimed at people who use the Internet on their mobile phones was launched recently by Google Mobile in Japan. Many considered that they only wanted to test the market. However, advertising specialist consider this action as an important new step on how the ads are directed towards the consumer and on search engine marketing. Google has signed an agreement with T-Mobile last year. Since then, Google.com is the home page for all those who use the T-Mobile network to access the Internet from their mobile handsets.
Another big player, Microsoft, wants a piece of the cake and they have been promoting their own mobile platform in the last years. It is believed that it is a matter of months until the software giant will present their service intended at mobile advertising.
Mobile phone marketing has evolved greatly since the era of marketing through SMS. This method is still used, especially by mobile phone companies which want to sell ring tones, mobile phone games and to promote different regional events. But because this type of marketing lacks one important element, targeting, its results and effectiveness are limited.
People who are away from the PC still want to search for different services and products, especially nowadays when accessing the Internet from the mobile phone is not an expensive solution. Mobile search engine advertising offers business the ability to reach new clients who are not in front on the computer.
Mobile search engine advertising is still new and there are still things which need to be tested and proven, but it is one of the most effective ways to reach new clients and address new markets. For example, in Japan mobile phones, Google will show ads on the top and bottom of their returned search results.
